Terms of Service

Last updated: 25 September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Oleksii Kaminskyi, an individual based in Ireland (“we”, “us”), for the use of Pivot: the browser extension and the web application at this site. By creating an account or using the extension you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use Pivot.

1. The service

Pivot shows two subtitle tracks on supported video platforms (Netflix, YouTube, Udemy, Crunchyroll), gives dictionary lookups and AI explanations for words you click, and lets you save and review vocabulary with spaced repetition. It works on top of those platforms; we are not affiliated with or endorsed by them, and you need your own lawful access to anything you watch.

2. Your account

3. Plans

We may change what each plan includes or what it costs. Price changes never apply to a period you have already paid for, and we tell you at least 14 days before they affect your next renewal.

4. Payments and renewal

Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as the merchant of record and reseller for Pivot. Your purchase is made from Polar, under Polar's terms; Polar handles checkout, invoices, sales taxes and payment disputes. We never see or store your card details. Prices include VAT where it applies.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel any time in Settings → Subscription; Premium stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and no further charges are made. Refunds are described in the Refund Policy.

5. Rules of conduct

When using Pivot, you agree not to:

If you break these rules we may limit, suspend or close your account. Where it's reasonable, we will warn you first and tell you why.

6. Your content

Words, sentences and documents you save remain yours. You allow us to store and process them only as needed to run Pivot for you. You can export everything as a file or delete it from Settings at any time, and you are responsible for respecting other people's rights in what you save.

7. Our property

The extension, the web application, their design, code and the Pivot name belong to us. Using Pivot gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it under these terms — nothing more.

8. Third-party services and data

Pivot relies on third parties: Google for sign-in, machine translation and AI explanations, Polar for payments, and dictionary data from Wiktionary-based sources (WikDict, kaikki.org) and CC-CEDICT under CC BY-SA. Their own terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for what they do. Explanations and translations are produced by machines and can be wrong — treat them as a learning aid, not authoritative advice.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Pivot running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free — video platforms change their players, and features that depend on them can break. We may change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you at least 14 days before the change applies. If we ever shut Pivot down, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused part of any paid period.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Pivot is provided “as is”, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for content you watch on third-party platforms. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Pivot and delete your account whenever you like. We may end or suspend access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms; if we end the service for reasons that are not your fault, we refund the unused part of a paid period.

12. Disputes, law and contact

If something goes wrong, write to us first at pivotsub.help@gmail.com — we answer within 30 days and try to fix things before anyone thinks of courts. These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without depriving you of the protection of the consumer law of the country you live in or of your right to go to its courts. If one part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
